Teaching Experience

Highlights of  Teaching Contributions

  • Taught 16 different undergraduate courses courses in areas of design computing and visualization, sustainable architecture, theory of architecture and regional architecture.
  • Received the "Distinguished Teacher Award" at KFUPM for the academic year 2016-2017.
  • Received two university/college teaching grants.
  • Consistently strived to keep the courses I teach current, reflective, interactive, and challenging, and this is reflected in students' evaluation of my teaching.
  • Developed and improved several undergraduate courses that I taught at KFUPM, including incorporating novel teaching tools and techniques.
  • Developed the Digital Design Studio (e-Studio) at KFUPM and before that at Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan, where students were taught how to explore design alternative and generate architectural forms using mainly digital media.
  • Developed on-line courses in cooperation of the E-learning Center at KFUPM, and incorporated WebCT or Blackboard technologies in teaching several courses.
  • My teaching focused on developing students' analytical and critical thinking skills and on applying knowledge through practical assignments and projects.
  • Taught, supervised and/or participated in the design review of numerous senior design projects each year.
  • Participated in the interim design reviews and final juries for several Design Studios; involved in 4+ design reviews and juries per year in addition to the juries in the studios I teach.
  • Attended numerous specialized workshops and seminars organized by the Deanship of Academic Development (DAD) to develop my teaching and advising skills.
  • Led the efforts of revising the current undergraduate Architecture Program curriculum at ARC Department, KFUPM.
  • Developed 18 new courses in the new ARC undergraduate program which was implemented starting first semester 2016/2017 (161).
  • Led the efforts in developing the Master of Architecture Program at KFUPM as a chair of the master program development committee.
  • Developed 14 new graduate courses in the newly developed Master of Architecture program at KFUPM that started January 2019.
